The garden awakens: Creating a green oasis at villa K7 Benahavis Marbella
How we planted a Mediterranean jungle paradise...
So began our botanical journey. In october 2023, truck after truck rolled up the hill, from our local garden center Viveros Guzmán in Malaga and Viveros del Valle in Estepona. Given the volume and our demands, we've gone from being unknown to well-known.

What began as a wild idea quickly turned into a full-blown green revolution. With every truckload and every rootball, the dream took shape. We weren’t just planting a Mediterranean garden — we were giving the house a soul, a Mediterranean jungle. Let’s talk details (and stakes). We made no fewer than 72 little bamboo markers, each proudly labeled with the name of a future resident. Yes, we went full-on garden geek — like a plant stylist labeling their runway show. But hey, every paradise has its backstage.
From Structure to Abundance: Designing a Living Landscape
We went for drama and volume. Euphorbia tirucalli, bold agaves, and the always-dramatic yuccas brought sharp silhouettes and serious sculpture. Then came the soft power: over 130 white oleanders, golden Echinocactus, lush schefflera, and generous clumps of pittosporum.
Our banana trees anchored the tropical vibe — and within a year, they were already offering over 25 kg of fruit. Not bad for newcomers.
But this jungle wanted more. So we added figs, mangos, avocados, papayas, kiwi, apricots, and a pomegranate worthy of myth.
Our citrus collection? Lemons, oranges, grapefruits, and the rare red finger lime — because life should come in flavor. And just when you thought we were done… we planted over 50 pine trees at the top of the plot. A green crown for our new Eden.
The Garden That Grows With Us
This isn’t a manicured showpiece. It’s a living, breathing ecosystem that grows wilder — and wiser — with every season. It reflects its creators: a little obsessed, deeply committed, and always dreaming in green. Special thanks to Patricia from Althea Garden and to Gerald, who graciously tolerated and co-funded this glorious madness.
The jungle at Villa K7 is no longer a secret. It’s an invitation.
And this — believe it or not — is just the beginning. Because as much as we love planting jungles at ground level, our real obsession lies above: the green roofs. Yes, the living rooftops of Villa K7 are a whole other story — one of ambition, complexity, and poetic stubbornness. A project within the project. A garden in the sky.
Stay tuned — our next article will take you up there.
